Production Opportunities


Whey Process Operator PM Shift

The Whey Process Operator  is responsible for whey-based products from the time whey enters the pasteurizer until it leaves the plant either as whey protein concentrate or whey permeate.  Duties for this position include: monitoring and operating all equipment in the Whey department including operating and cleaning the whey pasteurizer, R.O./Polisher, U.F., C.I.P systems, and all associated silos.  Whey process employees are also responsible for maintaining various equipment to include pumps, plates and silos to ensure they are in good working condition and operating properly.  Applicants must be able to lift, push/pull 50 pounds, climb ladders, stoop under low hanging pipes, tolerate a warm work environment, and work with little to no supervision while monitoring equipment for long periods of time.  Strong attention to detail and organization skills are required.  This is a PM full-time position that works 6pm – 6am on a rotational schedule of 7 days on, and 7 days off (which includes every other weekend off).

Makeroom CIP Operator AM Shift

Another opportunity within the Makeroom is the Makeroom CIP Operator.  This position will be responsible for the proper cleaning and sanitizing of all pasteurizing, separating, whey, and culture introduction equipment and storage silos.  Sanitation is a very important position here at the dairy as it will ensure that we give our customers the best quality cheese.  The Makeroom CIP Operator works 7a-7p on a rotational schedule of 2 days on 2 days off, 3 days on 2 days off (which includes every other weekend off).  A few of the physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 60 lbs. and climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch as needed.  If you are diligent and thorough in your work, are self-motivated, have a positive attitude, and are willing to learn, please apply today!  


Agronomy


Drivers (Full-time and Part-time)

Both the Agronomy and Fuel Divisions of Burnett Dairy Cooperative are currently accepting applications for both full-time and part-time drivers.  The main responsibilities of these positions is delivering /transporting products to local residential and industrial customers in an efficient, punctual, and safe manner per the planned routes.  As a representative of Burnett Dairy Cooperative, you are a key point of contact for our customers and are relied upon to provide prompt, friendly, and efficient service to our customers.  Therefore the right candidates for these positions should have excellent customer service skills, keen attention to detail, and a strong sense of safety. To be qualified for this role you must have a valid Class A or B CDL with the ability to obtain a hazmat endorsement (as needed).  Previous driving experience preferred.  These positions will start at 7 am and the end time depends on the route/schedule.  For full-time positions, overtime will be required as needed. All applicants must be able to perform all physical requirements of job to include the willingness to work outdoors in all weather and driving conditions, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.


Sales Opportunities


Sales/Delivery Driver (Pizza Kitchen)

Did someone say pizza?!? Burnett Dairy is excited and thrilled to have opened it's Pizza Kitchen establishment in Grantsburg.  In order to make this business a success, we are looking for a Sales/Delivery Driver to both establish and maintain customer relationships by selling our delicious pizzas, made with our very own Burnett Dairy cheeses. This role is responsible for sales, customer satisfaction, and transporting items in a safe and timely manner. To achieve success in the role, we are looking for applicants that are be polite and prompt, with a commitment to providing our customers with an excellent experience, while gaining new business for the Burnett Pizza Kitchen. In order to be successful in this position, we are looking for candidates that have an unrestricted Class B CDL (class A CDL is preferred) in order to safely drive a commercial, refrigerated box truck for deliveries.  Don't have a CDL?!? We'll help you get it, as long as you have a current driver's license and a clean driving record.  Additional skills required for this position include: proficiency using a of computer and has the ability to learn and master new software programs, strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, ability to function in an active and demanding work environment, and use critical thinking to problem solve.  Now is an exciting time to join Burnet Dairy Cooperative and become one of the exceptional people to help our company continue to grow and develop it's pizza line.    

Inside Sales Support Specialist

In order for our sales team to continue to sell Burnett Dairy's exceptional cheeses, they need a detail-oriented person to step into the Inside Sales Support Specialist.  This position will contribute to the achievement of sales targets by supporting sales representatives, coordinating sales and marketing activities, and maintaining good customer relationships. This individual needs to be proficient in Salesforce CRM Software and Applications to update the sales team on goals and tracking and maintaining current price lists.  Other responsibilities for this role include managing sales promotions, developing activation campaigns, ensuring order satisfaction, coordinating with other departments, handling administrative duties, and promoting customer satisfaction. Job requirements for this position include: strong problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, be a confident public speaker, and have strong attention to details.  In order to continue to build Burnett Dairy's brand, candidates must have the ability to develop relationships and successfully manage accounts, have solid brand building experience, and the ability and flexibility for minimal travel (as needed).  A Bachelors Degree (in Communications or Business) is preferred, or at least 4 years of related experience.  Burnett Dairy Cooperative is a true ‘Farm to Table’ Cooperative that has been a growing company for over 125 years.  Please apply today to join our sales team.


Retail Opportunities-Grantsburg


General Store Team Member (Weekends)

Looking for a part-time weekend position making your own schedule?  Want to make some extra cash?  Then apply today for our General Store Team Member  position.  This position is responsible for all work pertaining to the sales floor including assisting customers, stocking shelves, filling propane tanks and completing all other services offered by the General Store.  The right candidate for this position will have excellent customer service skills, be a motivated self-starter, and enjoy working as part of a team. Physical requirements include the ability to lift 60 lbs. and continuously being on your feet. Must be 18 years or older to apply and available to work at least a 4 hr. shift on both Saturdays and Sundays between the hours of 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Hourly wage is $14 per hour, plus employee discounts!

Bistro and Cheese Store Team Members (Full & Part-time)

Burnett Dairy Cooperative is currently hiring Bistro and Cheese Store workers. The right person for these positions is prompt, efficient, courteous, and above all has excellent customer service skills. Job duties include, but are not limited to: cashiering, stocking shelves and coolers, maintaining a clean and sanitary work area, and helping customers with their transactions. To be qualified for this position, a person must be comfortable using a computer, be able to collect money and make change, be comfortable working with food products, and demonstrate excellent customer service skills. This job requires constant standing, infrequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, pleasant work environment. Similar clerk experience preferred. Schedule includes: days, evenings, and weekends with hours ranging from 7:45 am-7:30 pm.  The hourly rate of pay for a part-time employee is $12, and full-time is $15.  Cheese apply today for these GRATE (get it???) positions!

Cheese Store Team Member (Part-time)

Visitors to the Cheese Store in Duluth can browse our unique selection of gift items, sample a variety of cheeses, enjoy both bistro and ice cream items, and purchase an assortment of beverages to include beer, wine and liquor. An ideal Cheese Store Team Member candidate should provide our visitors with an exceptional customer experience.  Job duties include, but are not limited to, supporting the operation of the cheese store by assisting customers with their transactions, keeping coolers clean, products stocked, making delicious bistro food and ice cream treats, and delivering outstanding customer service. To be qualified for this position, a person must be comfortable using a computer, be able to collect money and make change, be comfortable working with food products, is customer service driven, detailed orientated, and a team player that is able to perform in a fast-paced environment.  This job requires constant standing, infrequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and the shift requirements include days, weekends, and some holidays, between the hours of 7:00 am-8:00 pmThe hourly rate of pay for this part-time position is $15.   If you're passionate about food and enjoy working with customers and co-workers, then APPLY TODAY!

PLC Programmer

The PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Programmer is a contributing team member in the Maintenance department as well as the IT department.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the installation and maintenance of plant industrial controls, electrical equipment, and overall electri-mechanical systems within the dairy production plants.  The PLC Programmer will diagnose/repair/maintain/modify electrical problems of plant and packaging/processing equipment and perform electrical/mechanical building maintenance, installations and repairs.  To be successful in this position, we're looking for candidates that read and understand electrical, schematic diagrams, and mechanical component drawings; machine drawings and part blueprints, collaborate and communicate effectively with other departments and suppliers, ability to use critical thinking to solve problems, and work in an active and demanding work environment.  Also, all applicants must have working knowledge and be thoroughly familiar with the fundamentals of the National Electrical Code and have a high school diploma (or equivalent combined with 3 years field experience) or an Electrical Engineering, Electronic Technology degree or equivalent preferred.  The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 7:00a-3:30p, with the ability to fulfill off hours service calls (as needed).

Production Coordinator

The Production Coordinator ensures products are delivered on time and product meets quality requirements. Responsibilities include providing administrative support to the production and shipping and receiving departments by ensuring the manufacturing processes run smoothly through managing, planning, and coordinating production processes and ensuring all production information is posted daily into electronic inventory program.  The Production Coordinator must have a strong working knowledge of MS office, display professionalism and good customer relations skills, have excellent written and verbal communication skills to accurately record information to communicate scheduling changes, and be highly organized with a strong attention to detail to ensure inventory is correct.  We prefer candidates that have inventory and production scheduling experience.  This is a Monday-Friday position, working 8:00a-4:00p.  Time outside of regular business hours may be occasionally required as needed.

Fabricator

The Fabricator is responsible for designing and creating food grade designs using jigs, hand tools, welding torches, and other machining equipment to create, modify, or develop manufacturing equipment. Evaluates detailed instructions, specifications, drawings, or documentation to determine how the components are to be constructed, modified, maintained, assembled, or fabricated. Works with blueprints and engineering drawings to determine project task sequences and requirements. Laying out and examining metalwork pieces or stock to be processed for ensuring that specifications are met. Inspecting materials, equipment, or structures for identifying the cause of problems or errors or defects. Job requirements for this position include:

  • A technical diploma in Welding or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 3+ years’ related welding experience preferred
  • Food grade fabrication experience in the food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Required experience with steel, aluminum and/or stainless steel; and MIG, TIG and Arc welding; combination gas torch, grinders, etc.
  • Ability to identify and measure material, produce quality products consistently, follow instructions given both verbally and in written form, and to perform simple shop math including conversion of decimals to fractional equivalents and fractions to decimal equivalents
