Production Opportunities
Forklift Operator/Back-up Lead (1st Shift)
The Forklift Operator/Back-up Lead supports the shred department by moving product and/or materials from the department to the cooler, warehouse, or other designated area. This position also performs lead delegated duties when the department lead is absent. These duties include: overseeing production, troubleshooting problems, and assisting employees in the shred department. The job requirements/skills required for this position include: the ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license, good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to function in an active, demanding, changing, team-oriented and cold work environment, excellent hand-eye coordination, good mathematical aptitude, great organizational skills and attention to detail. We prefer candidates with previous forklift operator experience, but not required. This is a Monday-Thursday position, working from 6:00a-6:00p and overtime as scheduled.
Environmental Sanitation Technician (Part-time)
The Environmental Sanitation Technician performs all aspects of cleaning and plant sanitation across the food processing facility by effectively using chemicals, sanitation equipment and complying with food safety and quality requirements. Candidates for this position need to work up to 20 hrs a week and the work schedule is flexible. Physical requirements for this position include:
- Occasionally lift up to 40 Pounds; Push/Pull/Stack up to 50 Pounds
- Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch
- Must be able to work in hot, humid, damp, and noisy work environments.
- Be comfortable working with chemicals
Skilled/Technical Opportunities
Master Operator-Production (AM Shift)
If you are interested in learning the entire cheese making process from the time the milk gets received to being shipped out the door, then the Master Operator position is for you! The Master Operator is responsible to work where needed within the makeroom, intake, and whey departments of the cheese production facility. This position is trained to do all the responsibilities of the Makeroom Operator, Cheese Maker, Intake Operator, Whey Operator, and Makeroom COP and CIP. Physical requirements and working conditions include: the ability to Lift/Push/Pull/Stack up to 60 Pounds, stand on feet for entire shift, perform repetitive motion, and must be able to work in hot, humid, damp work environment. The job requirements include: the ability to function in an active and demanding work environment, obtaining and maintaining forklift certification, and have regular and dependable attendance. The Master Operator works 7a-7p on a rotational schedule of 2 days on 2 days off, 3 days on 2 days off (which includes every other weekend off).

Cheese Store Holiday Crew
Although it's still summer, we're prepping for the 2024 holiday season and need your help! Want to make extra money this holiday season?!? Then join Burnett Dairy's Cheese Store Holiday Crew! We are looking for temporary employees to assist with assembling holiday orders for our cheese store and e-commerce site from 10/14/2024-1/9/2025. Job responsibilities include: weighing and pricing cheese, packing orders to be shipped, processing credit/check payments, assembling gift boxes and stocking shelves. The schedule for these positions are Sun-Thurs, 12-8 pm and you will receive $14.00 per hour, along with an 'end of the season' retention bonus (terms and conditions apply) and an employee discount through the holiday season.
General Store Team Member (Weekends)
Looking for a part-time weekend position making your own schedule? Want to make some extra cash? Then apply today for our General Store Team Member position. This position is responsible for all work pertaining to the sales floor including assisting customers, stocking shelves, filling propane tanks and completing all other services offered by the General Store. The right candidate for this position will have excellent customer service skills, be a motivated self-starter, and enjoy working as part of a team. Physical requirements include the ability to lift 60 lbs. and continuously being on your feet. Must be 18 years or older to apply and available to work at least a 4 hr. shift on both Saturdays and Sundays between the hours of 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Hourly wage is $14 per hour, plus employee discounts!
Bistro and Cheese Store Team Members (Part-time)
Burnett Dairy Cooperative is currently hiring Bistro and Cheese Store workers. The right person for these positions is prompt, efficient, courteous, and above all has excellent customer service skills. Job duties include, but are not limited to: cashiering, stocking shelves and coolers, maintaining a clean and sanitary work area, and helping customers with their transactions. To be qualified for this position, a person must be comfortable using a computer, be able to collect money and make change, be comfortable working with food products, and demonstrate excellent customer service skills. This job requires constant standing, infrequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, pleasant work environment. Similar clerk experience preferred. Schedule includes: days, evenings, and weekends with hours ranging from 7:45 am-6:00 pm. The hourly rate of pay for a part-time employee is $12. Cheese Store Team Lead (Full-time)
Visitors to the Cheese Store in Duluth can browse our unique selection of gift items, sample a variety of cheeses, enjoy both bistro and ice cream items, and purchase an assortment of beverages to include beer, wine and liquor. Job duties for the Cheese Store Team Lead include opening and closing the store, completing daily prep work, and leading the staff throughout the shift. This position is responsible for all training procedures, as well as stocking, organizing, and rotating product to ensure it is available and appealing for customers, keeping workstations clean and sanitized, and assisting in all customer transactions in a courteous manner. The physical demands for this position include frequently lifting/pushing/pulling/stacking up to 30 pounds, standing for the entire shift and frequently bending, climbing, kneeling, and crouching. Availability requirements include working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled between the hours of 9:00 am-8:00 pm. Previous experience working in a customer service environment required along with effective leadership and motivational skills. All applicants must be 18 years old to apply. Maintenance Technician (PM Shift)
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes. This position performs multiple maintenance duties within the factory and grounds. Employees are required to perform maintenance and repair on machinery, as well as, welding, electrical, fabricating and mechanical duties. Preferred candidates should have
- Technical degree or equivalent in electrical, mechanical, hydraulics and pneumatics maintenance
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), PLC programming and computer operation
- Knowledgeable in fabrication and welding
- Knowledgeable of electronics and trouble-shooting of electronics
- Two years of maintenance and/or maintaining food service equipment
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, lock out/tag out procedures, and confined space
Applicants must be reliable and able to troubleshoot and work independently in a fast-paced working environment. The schedule for this position is on a rotational schedule of 2/2/3 from 6:00p-6:00a. Overtime and alternate days may be required based on workload. Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Worker
Burnett Dairy has created a Facilities and Grounds Maintenance Worker position that will be responsible for all general maintenance and repairs of the grounds to keep our business safe and presentable to all visitors and employees. Job duties include: maintaining the property grounds (i.e. snow removal, mowing/weeding/trimming, cleaning, etc.), basic building repairs (plumbing, heating/cooling, assembly, installation, general housekeeping, etc.), and working closely with the maintenance team to provide support as needed. Requirements for this position include: regular and dependable attendance, maintaining a flexible schedule (as needed), have a valid driver's license, the willingness to learn and use small forklft, scissor lift, payloader, etc. able to work in a weather controlled hot and cold work environment, lift up to 60 lbs., climb ladders, and stand and walk for long periods of times. We're looking for candidates that are self-motivated, have great problem solving and troubleshooting skills, and able to work in a active and demanding work environment. Availability: Monday – Friday, 7am – 3pm with the ability to work alternate hours based on workload.
