Recipe Description

These Gouda Gruyere Caprese Skewers are a fresh, flavorful appetizer that’s as beautiful as it is delicious. Creamy Gouda Gruyere cheese from Wood River Creamery pairs perfectly with juicy cherry tomatoes and fragrant basil for a simple twist on the classic Caprese salad. An optional drizzle of balsamic glaze brings a touch of sweetness to tie everything together. Quick to assemble and perfect for parties!

Ingredients

1, 8oz block Wood River Creamery Original Gouda Gruyere

40 cherry tomatoes (about 1 pint)

Fresh basil

Balsamic glaze (optional, but recommended)

20 long party skewers or 40 appetizer picks

Gouda Gruyere Caprese Skewers

Preparation

  1. Cut the block of Wood River Creamery Gouda Gruyere into 40 squares (do a 5 x 4 grid on the block of cheese to start, then tip each square over and cut in half).
  2. Assemble each skewer by sliding a cherry tomato, basil leaf, and square of Wood River Creamery Original Gouda Gruyere cheese onto it (doing two of each if you have longer skewers, alternating the ingredients to create a pattern).
  3. Store prepared skewers in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to serve (up to 24 hours).
  4. If desired, drizzle with balsamic glaze just before serving and enjoy!
